Health Ministry opens COVID-19 vaccination booths at Cairo Metro stations

Khaled Abdel Ghaffar, Egypt’s Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, and Acting Minister of Health and Population, announced on Sunday opening COVID-19 vaccination booths at Cairo Metro stations.

The move came in coordination with the Ministry of Transport, as part of the Health Ministry’s plan to expand in COVID-19 vaccination.

Abdul Ghaffar pointed out that these booths witnessed a heavy turnout, as 500 citizens were vaccinated during the first day of work at the Sadat metro station.

He further noted that work is underway to open more 14 booths, of which six booths will be in the transitional stations: Sadat, Al-Shuhada, and Ataba. 

According to the minister, 97 places have been allocated for vaccine registry inside metro stations, in order to make it easier for citizens to register and direct them immediately to receive the vaccine at nearby stations on their way inside the metro, as registration points were distributed to include 70 registration points inside the ticket office at all stations.
