Egypt, US naval forces carry out maritime training in Red Sea

The Egyptian Naval Forces and the US Naval Forces carried out on Monday a maritime exercise in the Southern Fleet in the Red Sea, with the participation of the Egyptian frigate “Alexandria” and the American amphibious ship “USS Portland”. 

The training comes in light of the improved Egyptian-American relations and the consensus on the importance of securing the flow of international maritime traffic in a way that enhances the global economy.

It also comes in the context of supporting military relations, enhancing cooperation and exchanging experiences between the Egyptian Armed Forces and their counterparts from friendly countries. 

The training included a set of various naval combat activities, which focused on strengthening maritime security procedures in the Red Sea, which includes exchanging the operational position in the joint maritime operations theater, which aimed to assess surface and air threats in the face of threats that affect the freedom of international navigation and the flow of global trade in areas with common interest.

In addition to training in countering atypical threats, as well as carrying out tactical sailing formations and signaling training exercises.

The training showed the extent of professionalism of the ship crews in carrying out combat missions with accuracy and high efficiency, with a focus on common coordination points among all the joint elements.
