Egyptian exports to Romania increase by 51.1% in H1 2021: CAPMAS

Egyptian exports to Romania increased by 51.1% to $100.4m in the first half of 2021 (H1 2021), up from $66.5m in the same period in 2020, according to the Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics (CAPMAS).

In a Wednesday report, CAPMAS said that Egyptian imports from Romania amounted to $339.5m in H1 2021, compared to $418.3m during the same period in 2020, a decrease of 18.9%.

The total trade exchange between Egypt and Romania recorded $439.9m in the first half of 2021, compared to $484.8m in the same period a year earlier.

 The report indicated that remittances from Egyptians working in Romania recorded $4.8m during FY 2019/2020, compared to $3m in FY 2018/2019, an increase of 62.2%. On the other hand, remittances of Romanians working in Egypt amounted to $1.6m during FY 2019/2020, compared to $2.6m during the fiscal year 2018/2019, a decrease of 36.2%.

The population of Egypt recorded 102.5 million people in 2021, while the population of Romania recorded 19.1 million people in 2021.

The number of Egyptians in Romania, according to the mission’s estimates, reached 2,000 at the end of 2020.
