The Marketers League conference, considered the first of its kind conference for advertising and marketing in the Middle East, kicked off on 13 March.

The first day of the two-day conference was attended by a number of ministers, alongside international and local marketers.

The conference aims to find marketing solutions and pioneering ideas to counteract the crisis caused by the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) crisis and its impact on trade and various industries in Egypt and worldwide.

The conference is also concerned with companies achieving sustainable development goals under the current circumstances, and how to develop performance and modern marketing methods in the modern era.

Sameh Farag, Founder and CEO of the conference, said, “If it were up to me, I would have demanded the establishment of a specialised marketing ministry that would raise Egypt’s position internationally, and market the important projects undertaken by the various ministries.”

Farag added that the marketing profession has honour and honesty, and its practitioners must get to know it before working in it, particularly as Egypt has many creative marketers who work in silence.

A discussion session was held on merging different sectors and cooperation between different ministries in providing services.

Participants in the session included: Ashraf Sobhy, Minister of Youth and Sports; Ghada Labib, Deputy Minister of Communications and Information Technology; and Ahmed Youssef, CEO of the Egyptian Tourism Promotion Board (ETPB).

Sobhy stressed the importance of the conference and participating in it, noting that the impact of sports is significant in many areas. Sports can also be used to promote various countries, as a means of their exploiting their hosting of various international tournaments to promote.

Both the competitions and the hosting of these competitions can be exploited to support the country in various activities and fields, whether sports, tourism, economic or medical.

Egypt has been creative in using this form of exploitation during the 2021 World Men’s Handball Championship. This is in addition to many tournaments that are exploited by the Ministry of Youth and Sports, in cooperation with various ministries in order to work to achieve integration for the advancement of the system.

Youssef explained that the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities is working to revitalise domestic and foreign tourism, and there are many fields in which the ministry works in parallel. This is namely beach tourism and ecotourism, in addition to sports tourism, which is witnessing significant development under Sobhy.

“We cooperate on a permanent basis with Sobhy in the field of sports tourism and we commend him in this field, as he spares no effort in these matters and always works to develop and expand them,” he said.

Labib explained that the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology is carrying out many projects in cooperation with many ministries, headed by the Ministry of Youth and Sports.

This is due to the importance it has in its field and the digital transformation that the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology is undertaking in many areas.
