Game of musical chairs increases English Premier League excitement

The English Premier League got off to a roaring start, with the table leaders changing six times over the first eight weeks of league. This has set the ground for a game of musical chairs, highlighting just why the league is so popular worldwide.

Arsenal ended the first round of the new Premier League season at the top of the ranking table on goal difference, thanks to the team’s fantastic victory in its away game at fellow London team, Fulham. The Gunners scored three goals to win their opening match of their Premier League race for the title.

Leicester City, however, had other ideas, and grabbed the table’s top spot from Arsenal after the second week, by scoring a precious 4-2 win over Burnley in their match at the King Power Stadium.

Leicester City strengthened their lead in the standings following the third week of the Premier League, by beating Manchester City 5-2.

Everton, meanwhile, climbed to the top of the Premier League table after the end of the fourth week, following their 4-1 win over West Ham.

The team cemented their lead in the Premier League after the fifth week ended, beating Brighton 4-2, and further proving their clean streak of wins since the start of the season.

If that was not exciting enough, Aston Villa grabbed top spot in the Premier League standings, after the sixth week ended. They were soon knocked off their perch by Liverpool who snatched first place in the Premier League after by beating West Ham 2-1. Southampton also temporarily led the Premier League after defeating Everton in the seventh week.

Leicester then regained the top of the standings again after the end of the eighth week, in which the Foxes won 1-0 over Wolverhampton.
