The US Ambassador to Libya Richard B Norland hailed Egypt’s efforts to restore peace and stability in Libya after bringing the rival military parties together to meet in the Red Sea city of Hurghada.

Egypt hosted the high-level meeting which brought together the warring factions, in order to reach a solution to end the crisis.

In a tweet on Sunday, Ambassador Norland thanked Egypt, adding that during his current visit to Egypt he and other concerned parties would discuss ways of supporting an upcoming Libyan Political Dialogue Forum.

During an interview with the Al-Sharq Al-Awsat newspaper, United Nations Support Mission in Libya (UNSMIL) head Stephanie Williams stressed the importance of the talks, and the need to stop the flow of foreign mercenaries into Libya.

She also welcomed the direct security and military talks between the delegations representing the Libyan Arab Armed Forces (LAAF) and the Government of National Accord (GNA). Moreover, she said that majority of the Libyan parties are more convinced than ever that the solution in Libya must be political.

Currently another series of talks are talking place as representatives from Libya’s High Council of State and eastern-based parliament continued the second round of talks, on Saturday, at the Moroccan resort town of Bouznika.
