Orange Egypt, El Orman Association cooperate in CSR initiatives

Cooperation includes establishment of paediatrics section at Luxor’s Shefaa El-Orman Hospital, providing medical equipment for El Abbasiya Fever Hospital

Orange Egypt has announced its cooperation with the El Orman Association to support the community with three different initiatives to help those in need during these difficult times.

The partnership comes iline with Orange Egypt’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives to support Egyptian citizens and state efforts during the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak.

The cooperation with the El Orman Association includes the establishment of a new paediatrics sector at Luxor’s Shefaa El-Orman Hospital, and providing El Abbasiya Fever Hospital with advanced medical equipment. The initiatives will also see the distribution of meat to hundreds of needy families in Egypt’s villages during the Eid Al-Adha holiday, in cooperation with Orange employees.

Orange’s first on-the-ground initiative was aimed at providing meat to underprivileged Egyptians in the villages of Al-Ayat, Atfih, Al-Saf, Barrel, Al-Khasas, and Nahaya Al-Balad. This came on the occasion of Eid Al-Adha, to support these families against the repercussions of the coronavirus.

In the second initiative, Orange is contributing to the establishment of the new paediatrics department at Shefaa El Orman Hospital. As the first and largest cancer hospital in Luxor, it provides the best free, specialised and integrated health care services for both paediatric and adult oncology patients.

The El Orman Association has decided to place a sign of recognition at the hospital dedicated to Orange employees, in appreciation of their great contribution in this great humanitarian project.

Furthermore, Orange is providing Abbasiya Fever Hospital with medical supplies and equipment. The hospital has been receiving the largest numbers of coronavirus patients in Egypt.

Hala Abdel-Wadood, Head of Public Relations and Corporate Social Responsibility at Orange Egypt, expressed her enthusiasm at the launch of such initiatives to support underprivileged Egyptians and bear the burdens of the community. Abdel Wadood praised Orange’s cooperation with the El Orman Association, which has a long history in charity and delivering donation to those who deserve it.

Abdel Wadood expressed her pride at the significant participation of Orange employees, especially during the crisis. She stressed that such participation confirms the value of fostering team spirit and the inclination towards voluntary work, and reflects the company’s moral values.

Over the past few months and since the outbreak of the COVID-19 crisis in Egypt, Orange Egypt has worked in several parallel paths to support the Egyptians at the economic, health and social levels,” Abdel Wadood said, “We launched various initiatives that include food distribution, donations, providing medical equipment and preventive supplies for medical stuff.”

She also noted that Orange Egypt has made continued efforts to technically and financially equip and support quarantine hospitals.

She said, “We still have a lot to do for the Egyptian community in this crisis, even if the number of daily COVID-19 cases continue to decline.”
