Egypt’s Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly said that President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi attaches great importance to providing the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) vaccines to the public as soon as produced by international companies, according to a Thursday statement by the cabinet.

Madbouly has received a report from Bahaa El-Din Zaidan, head of the Egyptian Authority for Unified Procurement, Medical Supply, and Technology Management, in which he reviewed the authority’s follow-up efforts on the production of COVID-19 vaccines around the world.

“We have a mandate from the president to provide these vaccines as soon as they are introduced,” Madbouly said.

“And in this regard, we have held periodic meetings with the ministers of higher education and health in the past weeks to follow up on the results of global clinical trials of possible COVID-19 vaccine.”
