US President Donald Trump said on Monday that his plan for peace in the Middle East will have an opportunity to succeed and will be announced at 5 pm GMT (7 pm Egypt), on Tuesday.

Trump described his plan as “historic chance” to achieve peace in the Middle East, saying that the Palestinians should be satisfied with the plan as it “works in their favour”.

During his meeting with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, the US president said that he believed that his Middle East peace plan would impress Netanyahu, and his rivalBenny Gantz, the leader of the “Blue-White” party.

Trump claimed that his peace plan, known as the “Deal of the Century”, was due to appeal to the Palestinians, describing it as “good for them … and very logical for everyone.”

Meanwhile, the Palestinian movements in Gaza Strip announced on Monday that the next two days are “days of anger” against Trump’s plan, rejecting the deal.

Trump is devoting both Monday and Tuesday to discussing the contested plan with both Netanyahu and his rival Gantz. Israel is set for another election in just over a month, with Netanyahu’s conservative Likud party and former military chief Gantz’s centrist Blue and White party currently running close to each other in the polls.

At the meeting with Netanyahu on Monday, Trump said he believed both the Israeli prime minister and opposition leader would like his peace plan, which he said would be released at noon local time.

Netanyahu said in his turn that the plan might be the “opportunity of a century”. He added that “We [Israel] will stick to the deal of the century.”
