The Ministry of Health announced that a central operation unit for the Egyptian fellowship has been formed in the ministry to overcome any obstacles facing doctors enrolled in the new training system.

According to the ministry’s statement, the operating room also aims to follow-up with the trainees in the fellowship hospitals, provide appropriate accommodation for doctors, and adopt new places and hospitals within the Egyptian fellowship programme.

During a meeting with a number of young and contemporary doctors that were assigned in September 2019, Minister of Health and Population Hala Zayed said that the system and the law of assigning doctors has not changed, but a new training system has been developed.

She added that the new amendments aim to provide doctors with unprecedented training and educational benefits.

The minister further explained that the doctors will receive a four-year training for a family medicine fellowship, as well as a three-month training on an emergency hospital as a basic period before moving to the health unit to learn dealing with all emergencies.

In case some specialisations are not offered, doctors can apply for them in the next assignment. During this period, they will be assigned to the fellowship of family medicine.

Urgent specialties such as the fellowships of emergency, anaesthesia, intensive care, and nurseries will not be included in the cycle.

Zayed pointed out that each doctor will choose his fellowship speciality according to his grades and the available specialties, noting that the doctor has the right to change the specialisation within a year.
