EBRD’s First Vice President in Egypt to follow up on his latest visit

The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development’s (EBRD) first Vice President Jurgen Rigterink is visiting Egypt from the 4-6 November to meet senior government officials and business representatives.

Rigterink will meet the Minister of Investment and International Cooperation Sahar Nasr, and Minister of Public Enterprises Hisham Tawfik, a Monday statement of the bank said.

During his stay in Cairo, Rigterink will follow up on his latest visit to Egypt in March 2019, a source informed Daily News Egypt.

Rigterink will also inaugurate the American Chamber of Commerce in Egypt’s event “Doing Well by Doing Good: Investing for Impact in Egypt” on Wednesday morning, the source added, noting that he will sign new projects for Egypt over his visit.

The EBRD delegation will include EBRD’s Managing Director Janet Heckman for the southern and eastern Mediterranean Region, and EBRD’s Deputy Head for Egypt Khalid Hamza.

Egypt is a founding member of EBRD. Since the beginning of its operations in Egypt in 2012, the bank has invested over €5.3 bn in 99 projects in the country, 2018 was a record year for Egypt, which became the largest EBRD country of operations

Egypt is part of the southern and eastern Mediterranean region, which is currently the fastest-growing region of EBRD’s operations with over €10 bn investments in 231 projects in the first six years.
