Technology companies dominate top positions of world’s top brands

Telecom and IT companies dominated the first places in the world’s highest-value brand list during 2017. Google topped the league with a market value of $109.4bn, according to Brand Finance. This is up from $88.2bn last year.

Apple came in second place with a brand valued at $107.1bn, down from $145.9bn in 2016. The brand took one step down from last year. Meanwhile, Amazon came in third with a brand worth $106.3bn.

In fourth place came the US telecommunications company AT&T, with a brand value of $87bn. Microsoft followed in fifth, despite having its brand coming down one spot. This year, the brand was valued at $76.2bn.

Samsung Group ranked sixth worldwide after evaluating its brand at $66.2bn, one step up from last year, followed by Verizon in seventh with a brand valued at $65.8bn.

Moreover, Facebook ranked eighth in the world, up from the 17th ranking in 2016. The brand was estimated to be worth $61.9bn. The Chinese telecom company China Mobile came in ninth with a brand value of $46.7bn, then, tailing the list, was T-Deutsche Telekom in Germany with $36.4bn.
