Aiming to promote Arab cinema and add a different creative vision in screening them in over 20 International Film festivals in 2017, the Arab Cinema Centre (ACC) announced its new partnership with Festival Internacional de Cine Latino Árabe (LatinArab International Film Festival) and the LatinArab Coproduction Forum.
In a press release, the centre explained the importance of such a partnership, stating that it provides films with bigger, wider options of distribution, which is mainly the main goal of the ACC.
On the tongue of Alaa Karkouti, the co-founder of ACC, the centre stated the benefits participating films will have, saying that “the joining of LatinArab International Film Festival and the LatinArab Coproduction Forum to the centre’s partners is an important step that is in line with the objectives of the centre in spreading Arab cinema worldwide through providing new opportunities for production and distribution.”
“The partnership with the forum comes after the collaboration between the ACC and the forum since its first edition last year. We expect it to continue for a long time,” he added.
Supporting the Arab culture scene and aiming to highlight Arab creative production and the cinematic field are the main stated reasons behind joining forces between three partners, something that the LatinArab International Film Festival expressed.
“Becoming a member of the Arab Cinema Center is a source of great pride for us and an opportunity to continue our pursuit of our main objective, to strengthen the cultural bonds between two countries through the cinematographic scene,” Edgardo Bechara El Khoury, the executive director of the LatinArab International Film Festival commented.
The film festival is the sole source in the region that aims to connect Latin America with the Middle East through cinema and art, as well as creating one joined platform for both cultures to join and find similarities upon.
The festival’s main screening and competition open a window to portray both culture’s films, which state the reality of people’s dreams, societies’ echoes, and cities’ diversified residents.
As for the LatinArab Coproduction Forum, it seeks to contribute to the development of joint film production between Latin American and Arab world through the films in the post-production phase, which are qualified enough to gain a joint-production process between the two sides.
