The Faculty of Engineering at Matareya, part of Capital University, has signed a cooperation protocol with the Association of Safety, Disaster Management and Firefighting Engineers (ASDFE) to launch a specialised professional programme to train certified fire protection systems inspectors.
The agreement was signed by Amr Abdel Hady, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering at Matareya, and Hatem Sadeq, Chairperson of the Association of Safety, Disaster Management and Firefighting Engineers, under the auspices of Capital University President Sayed Kandil. Vice Dean Mohamed Helmy also attended the signing.
The programme consists of six core courses totaling 18 credit hours and combines academic instruction with practical training. The curriculum covers the design and review of firefighting and automatic fire alarm systems, facility risk assessments, life safety and evacuation procedures, and the application of local and international codes and standards. Academic supervision will be provided by the faculty, with Sadeq contributing to the specialised technical components.
“The programme places particular emphasis on applying local and international codes and standards, assessing the condition of facilities, determining appropriate protection requirements, and preparing and reviewing technical reports,” said Sadeq, who also serves as a professor of firefighting at Capital University.
Abdel Hady stated that the initiative is designed to equip engineers with the technical skills needed to review system designs and assess their effectiveness. Helmy added that the partnership aims to align professional qualifications with labour market requirements and facility safety needs.
Classes will be offered through both in-person and online formats, with examinations hosted at the Faculty of Engineering at Matareya.
