Thirty Egyptian expatriates, formerly detained in Saudi Arabia, are expected to return home Wednesday, the Egyptian Consulate in Riyadh announced Tuesday.

In a statement published on its official website, the consulate said that a total of 43 Egyptians were detained; 13 of them were released and returned last Saturday.

The reason for their departure, preceded by a detention period ordered by Saudi authorities, is that they breached laws regulating labour in the country. The consulate called on Egyptians working or planning to work in Saudi Arabia to respect local laws.
