The Egyptian Chamber of Audiovisual Media Industry released a statement announcing head of Al-Zamalek Club Mortada Mansour’s ban from appearing on any of its member channels on Sunday.

The chamber called for the boycotting all conferences organised by Mansour and banning any of his announcement and news.

It further expressed support for CBC channel or any channel member in the Chamber when taking any legal actions against Mansour.

The chamber’s decision was made following Mansour’s abuse against TV host Lamees El-Hadidy and CBC channel owner Mohamed Amin in his phone call to the ‘Ala Mas’oolity programme hosted by Ahmed Moussa.

Mansour also condemned the decision to invite parliamentary winner Amr El-Shobakshy, and not his son, Ahmed Mansour, who also won in the elections.

In the live phone call, Mansour insulted El-Hadidy, accusing her of spreading rumours about his son and refusing to receive his phone call to give him a chance to defend himself when El-Shobakshy was giving “inaccurate information” about his son.

The Chamber’s members include CBC, ONTV, Al-Kahera Wal-Nas, Al-Hayat, Dream TV, Mehwar , and Sada El-Balad channels, in addition to Promo Media, Future, Media Line, and Ad Line agencies.

Earlier in 2015, the Press Syndicate banned coverage of Mansour in all newspapers and news sites when he verbally attacked a syndicate member. In May, he apologised to the syndicate. However, he was banned again by CRT channel from appearing on its screen when he insulted the president of Al-Ahly Club.
