5 tourism projects worth EGP 5.3bn to be offered at Economic Summit: Zaazou

Five tourism projects will be offered at the March Economic Summit worth total investments of EGP 5.3bn, Minister of Tourism Hisham Zaazou announced Monday.

The projects will be: a tourism resort in Hurghada worth EGP 1.076bn; a resort on the North Coast worth EGP 318m; two further resorts in Marsa Allam worth EGP 1.215bn and EGP 663m respectively; and a sports resort in south Safaga worth EGP 1.989bn.

Egypt’s tourism income increased last year to $7.5bn, a growth of 27% compared to the year before. Tourist numbers arriving to Egypt increased to 10 million last year, compared to 9.5 million tourists in 2013.

The number of nights spent by tourists in 2014, however, decreased to 94 million nights, compared to 97 million nights in 2013.
