Innovation and consumer security are considered the top priorities of Egyptian banks in 2015, announced Abeer Khedr, Director of Information Security of The National Bank of Egypt (NBE), during the Banking Technology Summit taking place in Cairo on Monday.

The third annual Banking Technology Summit, held between 9-12 November, serves as a platform for government, banks, and technology and financial solution providers to meet and discuss market challenges, improvements and opportunities.

There is a noticeable demand for non-conventional banking channels such as mobile banking and electronic wallets, said Khedr, adding that this will require banks to adjust their systems to allow for seamless integration between the different channels to support customer desire for digital convergence between these channels.

Basma Dawwas, Conference Director of International Quality and Productivity Center (IQPC), said that the summit aims to reveal insights and best practices in information security and mobile banking and disclose the latest innovations in the banking field.

Participants in the summit included the National Bank of Egypt, SunGard Financial Systems, Intercom Enterprises, SmartStream, Oracle, EBanking, CMS, Misys, Sopra Banking Software, Temenos, Masaref, Capital Banking Solutions, Xceed, BBI Consultancy, and IBM.
