Cairo Opera House launches 23rd Arab Music Festival

Participants of the Arabic version of the reality television singing competition, The Voice, will also perform in the festival.

Cairo Opera House has launched this year’s Arab Music Festival, scheduled to take place between 1 and 9 November. More than 74 musicians from 12 countries across the region will participate in the festival this year, including Egyptian singers Ali El-Haggar and Amal Maher, Lebanese singer Marouan Khouri and Syrian musician Safwan Bahlawan.

Participants of the Arabic version of the reality television singing competition, The Voice, will also perform in the festival.

The festival, which was first launched in 1992, will honour 14 figures who contributed in “enriching the Arab music scene”. The list includes singers Hany Shenouda and Sabah Fakhry, and musical instrument maker Nasr Mohamed Tawfik, according to a statement issued by Cairo Opera House.

In addition to concerts, the festival will host special events such as the musical salon “The Memory of Singing,” two art exhibitions, and an exhibition of musical instruments.
