The Defence of Tiba movement has filed a lawsuit against the state council, demanding the resignation of the governor of Luxor and that the parties responsible for neglecting the damages to antiquities in Luxor through sewage leakages be held accountable.

Mahmoud Abuleil, the founder of the movement, filed the lawsuit 42675/68 against the prime minister, the Minister of Antiquities and the Minister of Local Development. He said that there were two dangers in the Luxor governorate, the first being the leakage of sewage water to antiquities and compromising the citizens of the Qarnah area, Armant centre, Tor centre and Karnak City. He also blamed the governor of Luxor for negligence with regards to maintaining the world-class antiquities in the city.
