A few thousand supporters of ousted president Mohamed Morsi demonstrated near the Cabinet building in downtown Cairo on Wednesday afternoon in reaction to the new government formed under interim prime minister Hazem El-Beblawi.
Demonstrators gathered on Qasr Al-Eini Street next to the Cabinet building holding signs calling El-Beblawi illegitimate and condemning the change of power, which they called a “coup” against legitimacy and Morsi. Police blocked the road to the Cabinet building itself, which is located near Qasr Al-Eini Street.
