Al-ARISH: Police and army officers failed to convince hundreds of protesters participating in nationwide protests to “reclaim the revolution” to unblock El-Arish international road.

Hundreds of protesters marched after Friday prayers to the international Arish-Rafah road in Northern Sinai and the main road leading to El Oja crossing between Central Sinai and Israel, to express their frustrations.

Protesters set car tires on fire, and placed barriers to prevent cars from passing through.

Their demands included lifting the state of emergency extended in early September and to abolish military trials for civilians.

The Northern Sinai residents demanded dropping court verdicts issued in absentia against their family members, as well as amendments to electoral constituencies that were unofficially leaked to the press last week.

The Central Sinai protesters demanded their own electoral constituency for the Nov. 28 PA elections.
