CAIRO: Egypt star Mohamed Abou-Trika is likely to miss the 2010 African Cup of Nations after doctors warned him that playing through injury could threaten his athletic career.

FilGoal.com understands that the 30-year-old s visit to Germany resulted in some unfortunate news regarding his foot injury.

The 30-year-old player was in Germany to consult specialist Andreas Imhoff, who suggested that the Ahly playmaker needs at least two months to recover his full fitness, or else he would be risking his career if he decided to play.

Ten days ago, Ahly announced that Abou-Trika will be out of action for two months, but the midfield marvel insisted that he would be ready for the Angola finals.

But it now seems that Hassan Shehata will be without his primary playmaker next month.

It is believed that Abou-Trika has been suffering with a broken foot since the 2-1 league win in Mansoura back in October, when his brace won the game for Ahly.

However, he opted to keep on playing through injury as he was unwilling to miss last month s World Cup qualifier with Algeria.
