Al-ARISH: Ten Germans and five other tourists were injured when their bus overturned on a mountain road near St. Catherine s Monastery in southern Sinai.

The Egyptian bus driver was killed and two Egyptian tourist guides were also injured in the early Wednesday accident.

The director of the southern Sinai emergency department, Ibrahim Ali Hassan, says the injured are not in a life-threatening condition and are in a hospital in the resort of Sharm El-Sheikh.

Hassan says the 10 Germans include six men and four women. Four Belgians, three men and a woman, as well as one Frenchman, are also among the injured.

Road accidents are very common in Egypt due to bad roads and poor enforcement of traffic laws. Some 6,000 people are killed every year. -AP
