BBC's "Cairo Trilogy" broadcast on Radio Cairo

Egyptian audiences will finally get a chance to listen to the critically acclaimed BBC drama production of Naguib Mahfouz s classic The Cairo Trilogy when the three-part series premieres tomorrow on the European Service of Egypt s Radio Cairo (Frequency FM 95.4) at 12 am.

The series caused a stir in Britain with its impeccable production and the stunning performances of its Egyptian cast headed by young Egyptian star Amr Waked.

Produced and directed by British director John Dryden in partnership with ZAD Productions, the dramatization of the famous novels, which was narrated by Omar Sharif, was recorded outside the studios in the streets of Cairo in summer 2006.

The series has recently been short-listed for ‘Best Drama Production’ of the UK Sony Radio Academy Awards, the most prestigious radio honor in the UK.

This broadcast of The Cairo Trilogy has been made possible as a result of the partnership between Radio Cairo and BBC and their co-production of BBCe, each episode is an hour long. Part one will be broadcast on April 12, followed by Part 2 on April 19 and Part 3 on April 26.
