Armed Forces spokesperson Mohamed Samir claimed militants in a statement Thursday that military forces in North Sinai killed Ansar Beit Al-Maqdis (ABM) leader Abo Daa’a Al-Ansary along with 45 other.

The attack was part of an airstrike launched by the military against ABM locations south and southwest of Al-Arish. Samir said the airstrike was based on intelligence data.

The strike further destroyed warehouses and weapons in the possession of ABM militants, the statement further read.

“This successful operation affirms the pledges of the Armed Forces to retaliate for the martyrs and fight all terrorist elements,” Samir said in the statement.

Clashes between state security forces and Islamic State-affiliated Sinai Province militants, formerly known as ABM, have intensified recently as security forces continue Operation Martyr’s Right.

On the other hand, the military stated that it had carried out several operations amid its war on terrorism in North Sinai, which resulted in the arrest of dozens of suspects and the destruction of explosive devices.
