Over 400 more Egyptian migrant workers in Libya returned to Egypt Thursday morning via two trips from Tunisia, state-media reported.

A total of 16 flights bringing Egyptians back have been carried out over the past two weeks, while over 3,600 people have traveled back via planes from Tunisia.

The Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that it will, in cooperation with the Ministry of Aviation, maintain the ongoing flights from Tunisia to Egypt so that more Egyptians are able to return.

Egyptian workers are fleeing Libyan territory following the release of a video showing the self-proclaimed “Islamic State” (IS) beheading 20 Egyptian Coptic Christians earlier this month.

Egypt responded by launching airstrikes in the city of Derna, allegedly against IS.

Although there are no exact statistics, analysts say that the number of Egyptians working in Libya surpasses one million.
