The United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF), a United Nations’ leading organisation that specialises in helping children, launched a new guide book named the Child Friendly Technology (CFT) framework. The CFT framework, introduced on 6 August, will be used to develop innovative solutions with a focus on education.

The worksheets will act as a guideline for all UNICEF employees who wish to create any technology programme that addresses the educational needs of children.

“The CFT framework provides guidance and assistance to UNICEF country offices to incorporate innovation technologies into education projects,” the UNICEF’s presentation for the CTF said.

The guideline consists of 52 worksheets grouped into seven sections that will help creative teams in the UNICEF’s country offices brainstorm and create a project plan.

“It can be used when a member within the UNICEF’s organisation has an idea on an education project with a technology component that is focused on children and adolescence,” an introductory video on the CFT discussed.

The CFT was created by the UNICEF’s innovation unit, supply division and the programme division.

“We hope that sharing the CFT will assist you in creating a child friendly technology project that leaves a lasting impact,” a statement on UNICEF’s website said.

This is not the first attempt for UNICEF to incorporate technology in helping children. The organisation launched the “Programmabilities” project in March 2012.The purpose of the project was to produce a method of training for young deaf computer programmers in Zimbabwe and Uganda.
