Mohamed Abou Bakr, Chairperson of the Arab Organisation for Industrialisation (AOI), received Salah Gamblat, Minister of State for Military Production, in the presence of Abdel Rahman Othman, Director General of the AOI, alongside several heads of the organisation’s factories and companies and executives from military production companies.

The meeting focused on maximising the use of manufacturing and production capacities across the defence and civilian industrial sectors of both the AOI and the Ministry of State for Military Production, as part of efforts to support Egypt’s Vision 2030 for sustainable development.

Abou Bakr emphasised that the AOI and the Ministry of Military Production represent the two pillars of Egypt’s military industry, noting that cooperation between the two entities is already under way.

He said the cooperation is contributing to increasing added value in domestic industry, meeting local market needs at competitive prices, reducing imports and boosting exports.

He stressed the importance of continued coordination and integration between the two entities to organise cooperation in defence and civilian industries, implement national development projects and strengthen the Made in Egypt initiative, in line with President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi’s directives to deepen local manufacturing and transfer and localise technology.

Abou Bakr explained that the AOI has succeeded in designing and manufacturing products and components previously imported from abroad, meeting the needs of various industrial sectors in accordance with international quality standards and supporting the practical industrial application of scientific innovations.

He added that the AOI possesses advanced engineering and manufacturing capabilities, including modern production lines capable of adapting to the latest global industrial developments. This makes the organisation a key partner for the Ministry of State for Military Production in implementing its plans and objectives for comprehensive and sustainable development.

The AOI Chairperson stressed the importance of establishing a joint coordination committee to develop practical mechanisms for industrial integration in the manufacture of civilian products.

He also called for establishing a joint marketing mechanism based on clearly defined technical procedures and implementation schedules, alongside cooperation in the centralised procurement of various raw materials.

Such measures, he said, would help strengthen production activities across both entities and maximise the use of manufacturing capabilities at AOI factories and companies and military production companies.

For his part, Minister of State for Military Production Salah Gamblat affirmed that cooperation between the ministry and the AOI across various manufacturing activities, particularly defence industries, has been productive and well established for many years.

He said both sides are committed to maintaining and expanding this cooperation, particularly in light of President Al-Sisi’s directives to promote integration among state institutions and maximise the use of their advanced manufacturing capabilities to support domestic industry, deepen local manufacturing and reduce reliance on imports.

Gamblat explained that the Ministry of Military Production possesses an advanced industrial and technological base that enables it to meet the requirements of the Armed Forces and police.

The ministry also uses surplus production capacity at its affiliated companies to support the civilian sector and participate actively in implementing numerous national and development projects.

He noted that the ministry operates through a comprehensive industrial system comprising 15 industrial companies, four additional companies specialising in information systems and construction, a maintenance company and a Centre of Scientific and Technological Excellence.

The minister highlighted the ministry’s commitment to implementing presidential directives to localise the latest manufacturing technologies, strengthen strategic partnerships with domestic and international private-sector companies and open new markets for Egyptian products.

These efforts, he said, support the state’s objectives for sustainable industrial development under Egypt Vision 2030.

Gamblat also stressed the importance of establishing a joint coordination committee whose members would meet regularly to strengthen cooperation and integration between the ministry and the AOI, bring their perspectives closer together and align their objectives.

He called on both entities to adopt a shared approach and common understanding and operate as a unified team with the overriding objective of serving the interests of the state.

The minister further stressed the need for continued coordination in implementing national projects, integrating manufacturing efforts, expanding export opportunities and opening new markets for Egyptian products.

He said these measures would generate greater added value for the national economy and maximise the benefits of the capabilities available to both organisations.
