Egypt has established a new industrial investment sub-fund under its sovereign wealth fund with an authorised capital of EGP 10bn and a paid-in capital of EGP 500m to boost exports and deepen local manufacturing, the investment minister announced.

Minister of Investment Mohamed Farid Saleh, who also chairs the Sovereign Fund of Egypt, issued board resolution No. 2/7 of 2026 to establish the wholly owned “Sovereign Fund of Egypt Sub-Fund for Industrial Investment.”

The sub-fund targets export-oriented companies to help increase foreign currency inflows, deepen local components, localise technology, and enhance overall industrial capabilities, Farid stated. He noted that establishing the fund diversifies financing and investment tools, aiming to encourage investors to inject new capital into the Egyptian market for production, manufacturing, and export purposes.

The fund will focus on industrial sectors with export and growth potential, including automotive components and feeder industries, electronics and electrical appliances, food and beverages, textiles and ready-made garments, and pharmaceuticals.

Investments will be injected into companies operating across these sectors based on feasibility studies and subsequent approval by the sovereign fund’s investment committee. The financing is designed to improve the companies’ productive and competitive capacities, enabling their expansion and growth, alongside entering into partnerships with global industrial firms to establish new projects or develop existing ones.

The fund’s investment policy is structured around forming partnerships with the private sector and investment institutions. This strategy encompasses direct investments in companies, indirect investments through partnerships with investment banks to establish other industrial funds, and investing in industrial-related assets, lands, and buildings to serve its investment objectives.
