The Chemicals and Fertilizers Export Council (CEC) has launched a new EU Export Incubator programme to help Egyptian companies comply with European Union regulations, as part of a broader strategy to accelerate the sector’s green transition and enhance the competitiveness of Egyptian exports.
The initiative was unveiled during a workshop titled “Responding to Green Transition Requirements in Chemical Industry Exports”, organised by the council in cooperation with the German Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ) and Lynx Business Advisors.
The event brought together representatives from the Chemical Industries Chamber, the Egyptian Organization for Standardization and Quality (EOS), the General Organization for Export and Import Control (GOEIC), industry experts, and exporting companies to discuss the growing importance of sustainability standards in international trade.
Mohamed Magid, Executive Director of the CEC, said the green transition has become a defining factor in export competitiveness, evolving from an environmental consideration into an economic, trade, and investment imperative that will increasingly determine which companies remain integrated into global supply chains.
He noted that the chemical industries sector was among the first in Egypt to begin aligning with sustainability requirements, strengthening its ability to expand into international markets. The European Union currently accounts for around 42% of the sector’s exports, making compliance with the bloc’s evolving environmental regulations a strategic necessity rather than an option.
“The future will not only favour companies that produce the best products, but also those that can demonstrate they were produced sustainably,” Magid said.
He added that the council will continue implementing capacity-building programmes, raising awareness, and connecting companies with technical institutions and development partners to help them meet international sustainability standards and maintain access to key export markets.
As part of the workshop, the council officially launched the EU Export Incubator, a programme designed to prepare Egyptian exporters for European regulatory requirements through technical guidance and practical support.
The programme will conclude with a trade mission to France from 1 to 4 February 2027, giving participating companies the opportunity to meet European importers, buyers, and potential business partners.
The council also opened registration for Egyptian companies to participate in the national pavilion at six international trade exhibitions across key export markets in the coming months. In addition, it announced a series of specialised sustainability workshops aimed at helping companies integrate the UN Sustainable Development Goals into their operations and develop practical strategies to expand their export activities.
