Egypt’s street workout team wins 3 gold medals at world championship

Egypt’s Street Workout team won three gold medals at the 2023 Street Workout and Calisthenics World Championship held in Riga, Latvia.

Ahmed Helmy took first place in the freestyle medium weight category, Hassan Badran won the strength medium weight category, and Ahmed Essam topped the freestyle over-30 years category.

Minister of Youth and Sports Ashraf Sobhy congratulated the team on their achievement, saying he is “proud of their hard work and dedication.”

Sobhy also pointed to the government’s support for the team, saying it is committed to “promoting the sport of Street Workout and helping to develop the skills of Egyptian athletes.”

Islam Kortam, president of the Egyptian Street Workout and Calisthenics Federation, also congratulated the team and promised them “rewarding incentives” to motivate them to continue their success.

The 2023 Street Workout and Calisthenics World Championship was held from Aug. 22-26 in Riga, Latvia. The event featured 100 athletes from over 30 countries competing in a variety of events, including freestyle, strength, and pairs.
