CAIRO: Zamalek have decided to deduct money from every player who took part in the 1-0 defeat to third-division side Bani Obeid in the Egyptian Cup round of 32.

The deduction will be the biggest in the club s history, interim coach Ahmed Refaat told Zamalek official website on Sunday.

The minimum deduction for a player will be LE 50,000.

Despite having an almost full-strength squad, title holders Zamalek exited the cup at the first hurdle.

The Cairo giants implemented new disciplinary measures recently after a string of poor results.

A host of key players, including Gamal Hamza and Mohamed Aboul-Ella, were suspended for a month before being reprieved.

But the punishments Zamalek imposed did not pay dividends, with the White Knights winning just once in seven matches.
