The colors, styles and the must haves of the upcoming season
CAIRO: Sadly, the summer is pretty much over, and it’s almost time to pack minis, bikinis, sandals and string tops and put them back into storage. Although Egypt doesn’t have such distinct four seasons, it is still important to know what the fall season is bringing us when it comes to fashion, and try as much as possible to incorporate it into wardrobes.
ColorsThis autumn, colors are all warm earthy colors as well as the color of jewels. Strong shades like deep wines, terracotta tones, gold, sapphire blue and a rich ruby red are very present on the cat walks even if they are just accessories: a bag or a belt. These rich colors give an impression of sophistication, which is one of the themes of the fall.
The signature itemTo be trendy this season, you must have the skinny pants. In theory they are a great idea, as they make you seem taller and thinner, that is if you are already tall and thin. Otherwise it’s a bit trickier, but if you find a good pair that is made of super-stretch materials, they suck in the lumps and show off the sexy shape of the leg. Always wear them with heels and a loose top or shirt.
Mixing the feminine with the masculine Although this concept is far from new, this season sees an abundance of it. Try pairing tweed with lace, or a tailored jacket with a silk skirt. Also try mixing the military jacket with more feminine attire in your closet.
LayersThat snuggled up look is always cute and especially welcomed this season. Unfortunately, it won’t be practical here in Egypt except after a few months because it is still too hot. But when it is cool enough, the only thing you have to know is make sure you get the proportions right. If you’re layering tops make sure at the bottom you’re wearing something slimming so you don’t end up looking like a snowman.
Shoes Many shoes are in fashion this season, spilling over from last year. Flats, peek-a-boos and wedges are still around in abundance. Soon it will be cool enough to bring out your boots. The platform boots are very much in fashion, as well as comfortable. Also from last winter are the high-heel or flat slouch boots and rider boots. Colorful shoes are still in, but less bright than last season. Animal and reptile prints are very hot this fall.
