Egypt’s Planning and Economic Development Minister Ahmed Rostom held a meeting with Vijay Krishnan, Chief Financial Officer of Americana Foods, and Saqib Awan, the group’s General Counsel and Company Secretary, at the start of his visit to the UAE to participate in the 15th AIM Investment Summit.

The meeting discussed ways to strengthen cooperation and support the company’s plans to expand in the Egyptian market, given its position as one of the largest companies in the food manufacturing sector.

Rostom said Egypt has promising potential and a strategic logistics location that can support the expansion of value chains in the food and agricultural manufacturing sectors.

He pointed to growth indicators recorded by the Egyptian economy across a number of sectors during the fourth quarter and the 2025/2026 fiscal year, as well as declines in unemployment and inflation rates, which he said demonstrate the resilience and sustainability of economic growth and the substantial number of jobs being created.

Rostom highlighted the development and investment role of the National Investment Bank (NIB) and its subsidiaries, including Ayady for Investment and Development, in supporting national projects and deepening partnerships with the private sector.

He also highlighted the competitive advantages offered by the state to investors, including coordination with the Ministry of Investment and Foreign Trade to develop free and investment zones, the availability of the Golden Licence, and measures to facilitate expansion procedures.

Rostom also pointed to the availability of energy and skilled labour at competitive costs, enabling companies to access regional and international markets.

Americana representatives, for their part, affirmed the company’s keenness to strengthen cooperation with the Egyptian side and capitalise on promising opportunities in the domestic market as part of its upcoming expansion plans.

Company officials also expressed their interest in cooperating with the Future of Egypt Authority for Sustainable Development in agricultural investment and food manufacturing.

Rostom concluded the meeting by inviting the company’s executives to visit Egypt to see the country’s investment advantages first-hand and hold intensive meetings with relevant ministers and heads of authorities, with the aim of accelerating expansion plans in manufacturing, agricultural investment and exports.
