Mohamed Awad, CEO of the General Authority for Investment and Free Zones (GAFI), met with a delegation from DP World to discuss the company’s plans to expand its operations in the Egyptian market over the coming period and review a range of investment opportunities aligned with its global expertise in ports, logistics, supply chains and distribution services. The meeting follows recent discussions between Minister of Investment and Foreign Trade Mohamed Farid and DP World’s senior executives.

During the meeting, Awad reviewed the company’s strategy and future plans to strengthen its operations and investments in Egypt, as well as the sectors targeted for expansion, in light of the country’s competitive advantages, strategic geographic location and advanced infrastructure linking regional and international markets.

The discussions also covered several promising investment opportunities that align with DP World’s expansion objectives, particularly in logistics, storage and distribution centres, integrated logistics services and supply chain management. The two sides also explored the most suitable investment frameworks for implementing the proposed projects.

Awad said GAFI is committed to maintaining direct and continuous engagement with international companies operating in Egypt, stressing the importance of understanding their future investment plans and providing all necessary institutional support to facilitate their expansion in coordination with the relevant authorities.

He added that the government aims to attract more high-quality, value-added investments that enhance the efficiency of the transport and logistics system, improve the competitiveness of Egyptian exports and increase domestic value addition.

Awad also noted that the investment opportunities presented during the meeting were carefully selected to match DP World’s expertise and expansion strategy. He reaffirmed GAFI’s readiness to provide the company with a unified institutional point of contact to follow up on investment opportunities and facilitate coordination with the competent authorities, helping accelerate project evaluations and the completion of the necessary procedures.

For their part, DP World representatives reviewed the group’s operations in Egypt, stressing that the country represents one of the company’s most important strategic markets in the Middle East and North Africa, thanks to its strategic location along international trade routes and the significant opportunities it offers in ports, integrated logistics services and supply chain development.

DP World maintains a longstanding investment presence in Egypt through its management of Ain Sokhna Port on the Red Sea, one of the country’s principal trade gateways, which plays a key role in connecting the domestic market with regional and international trade networks and global supply chains.

At the conclusion of the meeting, both sides reaffirmed their commitment to continuing coordination during the next phase to complete the assessment of the proposed investment opportunities and examine implementation mechanisms, supporting DP World’s expansion plans in Egypt and the state’s efforts to attract more high-quality foreign investment.
