Egypt is seeking to deepen industrial cooperation with India by attracting more Indian manufacturers and industrial developers to invest in the country, Minister of Industry Khaled Hashem said during a meeting with India’s Ambassador to Egypt, Suresh K. Reddy.
The meeting focused on expanding bilateral industrial cooperation and exploring investment opportunities in priority sectors, including renewable energy, food industries, automotive manufacturing, pharmaceuticals and electronics.
Hashem said Egypt aims to translate its strong political and economic ties with India into tangible industrial projects by strengthening engagement between the private sectors of both countries and activating the role of the Egyptian-Indian Business Council.
“We welcome both large and medium-sized Indian companies to establish operations in Egypt,” the minister said, noting that the government is keen to leverage India’s extensive expertise in industrial technologies to enhance the capabilities of the local workforce and promote industrial integration between the two countries.
He highlighted Egypt’s competitive advantages for investors, including its strategic geographic location, extensive network of trade agreements providing access to international markets, skilled workforce and the investment incentives offered by the government.
Hashem also called for closer cooperation between the Ministry of Industry and the Indian Embassy to attract more Indian manufacturers to establish production facilities in Egypt and use the country as a regional manufacturing and export hub serving neighbouring markets and Africa.
He added that successful Indian investments in Egypt could encourage more companies to enter the market. He also proposed attracting Indian industrial developers to establish new industrial zones under Egypt’s industrial developer model to help meet growing demand for fully serviced industrial land.
For his part, Ambassador Reddy said Indian companies view Egypt as a strategic partner and a regional hub for manufacturing, exports and investment, citing the country’s strategic location and economic reforms that have strengthened investor confidence.
He also highlighted several successful Indian investments in Egypt, including TCI Sanmar Chemicals, as examples of the strong and growing industrial partnership between the two countries.
During the meeting, the ambassador delivered an invitation to Hashem to participate in the BRICS Industry Ministers’ Meeting and proposed organising a roundtable with Indian industrial companies to explore investment opportunities in Egypt and showcase the incentives offered by the Egyptian government for establishing or expanding industrial projects.
