The Egyptian Golf Federation pavilion hosted approximately 80 strategic bilateral meetings with golf tour operators and tourism specialists from more than 30 countries during the two-day International Association of Golf Tour Operators (IAGTO) European Convention in Malaga, opening avenues for future partnerships and investment.
The Egyptian Golf Federation, in collaboration with the Egyptian General Authority for Tourism Promotion, concluded its participation in the convention amid widespread international interest. Representatives from markets across Europe, North and South America, Asia, Africa, and the Middle East met with Egyptian delegates to discuss the country’s offerings in the golf tourism sector.
Omar Hisham Talaat, President of the Egyptian Golf Federation, stated that the event serves as an important milestone in a long-term strategy to elevate the country’s position on the global golf map.
“Golf tourism offers promising opportunities for sustainable growth, investment, and international visibility, and we are committed to working alongside our partners to develop these capabilities and enhance Egypt’s competitiveness in this vital sector,” Talaat said.
He added that the large turnout reflects growing confidence in Egypt’s potential to attract tourists from various global markets, driven by recent international promotional efforts and professional tournaments organised by the federation.
During the convention, Egypt highlighted its competitive advantages, which include championship-standard golf courses, luxury hospitality facilities, a year-round sunny climate, and coastal destinations on the Red Sea and Mediterranean, alongside its cultural heritage.
Ahmed Halawji, Chairman of the Tourism Committee at the Egyptian Golf Federation, noted that the quality and diversity of the meetings exceeded expectations. He confirmed that participants from both traditional and emerging markets showed strong interest in incorporating Egypt into their future programmes, which he expects will contribute to tangible growth in the Egyptian tourism sector.
Peter Walton, Chief Executive of IAGTO, praised the Egyptian delegation’s presence, confirming that the country successfully attracted broad interest from convention participants.
