Mokhtar Abdel Latif, Chairperson of the Arab Organization for Industrialization (AOI), held talks, on Tuesday, with Jules Banza Mwilambwe, Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces of the Democratic Republic of the Congo, to explore avenues for strengthening cooperation across industrial, defence, and development sectors.
The Congolese delegation, which included senior officials, was received in the presence of Kasongo Musenga Jean-Baptiste, Ambassador of the Democratic Republic of the Congo in Cairo.
During the meeting, both sides reviewed opportunities to leverage AOI’s advanced manufacturing capabilities to support development projects in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, alongside cooperation in defence and security industries. Discussions also focused on identifying priority areas for collaboration across a range of industrial sectors.
Abdel Latif reaffirmed Egypt’s commitment to expanding partnerships with African countries, in line with directives to deepen economic and industrial integration across the continent and open new export markets. He highlighted AOI’s readiness to contribute to development initiatives in the DRC, in addition to cooperation in defence-related industries.
He also stressed the importance of enhancing coordination and exploring new avenues for joint work, particularly in the transfer and localisation of advanced manufacturing technologies.
For his part, Mwilambwe expressed his country’s interest in strengthening cooperation with Egypt across industrial and development fields, describing AOI as a key industrial arm of the Egyptian state. He underscored the importance of aligning efforts to achieve industrial integration and localise modern manufacturing technologies.
The visit included a tour of AOI’s product exhibition, where the Congolese delegation was briefed on the organisation’s manufacturing capabilities and diverse product portfolio.
