Finance ministry pushes trade facilitation with ACI rollout for air freight

Minister of Finance Ahmed Kouchouk reaffirmed the government’s commitment to enhancing trade facilitation and reducing import and export costs through stronger engagement with the business community. Speaking about the upcoming implementation of the Advanced Cargo Information (ACI) system for air shipments—set to become mandatory on 1 January 2026—Kouchouk emphasized the importance of building trust and partnership with importers, customs brokers, and air freight agents.

He instructed that all inquiries related to the ACI system for air cargo be addressed swiftly and clearly, with expanded outreach across media platforms to explain the system’s procedures and benefits. He also underscored the need for continuous technical support at airports throughout both the trial and full implementation phases.

Kouchouk noted that the Ministry of Finance is working closely with investment partners to streamline trade operations and improve the overall efficiency of Egypt’s logistics ecosystem.

Ahmed Amawy, Head of the Customs Authority, added that regular meetings are being held with business associations to clarify the ACI system’s features and requirements. He highlighted the development of comprehensive guidance manuals designed to simplify procedures and support importers in adapting to the new system.
