Sharm El-Sheikh –  In a pivotal moment for regional stability, the United States, Egypt, Qatar, and Turkey formally endorsed a Gaza ceasefire agreement Monday, as world leaders converged in the Egyptian resort city of Sharm El-Sheikh. The “Sharm El-Sheikh Peace Summit,” co-hosted by Egyptian President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi and US President Donald Trump, gathered over 20 heads of state. formalise

The summit, held Oct. 13, 2025, focused on the Sharm El-Sheikh Agreement to end the Gaza war, brokered four days prior by the four signing nations. Leaders praised President Trump’s peace plan and the crucial mediation efforts of Qatar and Turkey. They also lauded Egypt’s “crucial role” in humanitarian aid and brokering the agreement, as well as its initiative to host the summit.

Discussions emphasized international cooperation for implementing the agreement, including a comprehensive Gaza ceasefire, hostage exchanges, Israeli withdrawal, and humanitarian aid delivery. Leaders from the four mediating nations formally signed a document supporting the accord.

Further talks will address implementing President Trump’s settlement plan, from governance and security to Gaza’s reconstruction and a political path to resolution.

Egypt thanked participants for their support, affirming its commitment to collaborate with regional and international partners to close a “painful chapter” that eroded human compassion, international credibility, and regional security.

Reiterating its historical role in regional peace, Egypt pledged “no effort will be spared” to preserve the new horizon from Sharm El-Sheikh. It committed to addressing root causes of instability, primarily the lack of a Palestinian solution, to achieve comprehensive and just peace.

The Egyptian presidency highlighted Palestinian resilience, asserting unwavering support for their “inalienable legitimate rights.” This includes self-determination and the right to live peacefully in an independent state alongside Israel, within Gaza, the West Bank (including East Jerusalem), under legitimate leadership, and on the June 4, 1967 lines, in accordance with international law.

Egypt looks forward to a conflict-free Middle East built on justice, equality, good neighborliness, and peaceful coexistence.

Following the signing, Trump, Al-Sisi, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, and Qatari Emir Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani formally endorsed the document. Trump described it as outlining “a lot of rules and regulations.” “This took 3,000 years to get to this point… And it’s going to hold up too,” he remarked. The document’s contents were not immediately released by the White House.

Trump hailed the breakthrough as a regional turning point. “This is the day that people across this region and around the world have been working, striving, hoping, and praying for… With the historic agreement we have just signed, those prayers of millions have finally been answered,” he said.

In his address, President Al-Sisi welcomed leaders to a “historic and pivotal moment” marking the Gaza ceasefire agreement. He hoped it would “close a painful page in human history” and open a new era of peace and stability.

Al-Sisi then invited President Trump, praising his “courageous and peace-loving leadership” and efforts to end conflict. He expressed appreciation for Trump’s “wise leadership” and his plan to end the “tragic war.”

The Egyptian President thanked the US, Turkey, and Qatar for their “sincere efforts,” supporting the plan and the “political horizon necessary” for a two-state solution – the “only way” for Palestinians and Israelis to live securely.

“You have proven, Mr. President, that true leadership is not about waging wars, but about the ability to end them,” Al-Sisi asserted, trusting Trump to implement the agreement. He urged, “Mr. President, let the Gaza war be the last war in the Middle East.”

Al-Sisi recounted Egypt’s 1977 peace initiative by President Anwar Sadat, which “launched a new era” proving security isn’t solely military. Today, Egypt and its allies affirm peace as a strategic choice, rooted in justice and equal rights.

He emphasized that Palestinians, like other nations, have the right to self-determination and an independent state coexisting peacefully with Israel.

Peace, Al-Sisi noted, is built by peoples realizing “yesterday’s adversaries can become tomorrow’s partners.” He appealed to the Israeli people: “Let us make this historic moment a new beginning for a life of justice and peaceful coexistence… Extend your hands to cooperate in achieving a just and lasting peace.”

Addressing Trump, Al-Sisi cited widespread relief after the ceasefire as proof that “the common choice of peoples is peace.” He noted Trump’s interest in Gaza’s recovery, announcing Egypt’s collaboration with the US and partners on reconstruction, including an “Early Recovery, Reconstruction and Development Conference.” “Peace is not complete until a hand is extended for construction after destruction,” he said.

Al-Sisi envisioned a “bright future” for the region, a “unique historic opportunity, perhaps the last,” for a Middle East free from instability, where “all its peoples enjoy peace and a decent life within secure borders and protected rights… immune to terrorism and extremism… free of all weapons of mass destruction.” Egypt seeks to realize this “new Middle East” with partners.

The agreement, he concluded, “paves the way for this” and must be implemented for a two-state solution ensuring regional cooperation.

To conclude, and in appreciation of President Trump’s efforts, Al-Sisi announced Egypt’s decision to award him the “Order of the Nile,” Egypt’s highest honor.
