The Spanish Ambassador to Egypt, Álvaro Iranzo, expressed concern over the tragic events occurring in the vicinity of Egypt. He emphasized that Spain strongly urges all parties involved to exercise restraint and immediately cease the violence against civilians.

These remarks were made during the celebration of the Spanish National Day.

“Now more than ever, we recognize the urgency of emphasizing that the path to a just and lasting peace between Palestinians and Israelis lies in the two-state solution, as defined by relevant United Nations Security Council Resolutions. Self-defense should be carried out in accordance with international law. We condemn collective punishment and call for immediate humanitarian aid for the people of Gaza,” he stated.

The Spanish ambassador also highlighted Spain’s ongoing commitment to maintaining regional stability.

“We have confidence and hope that the Egyptian authorities, as they have done in previous crises, will use their positive influence to de-escalate tensions, ensure humanitarian access, and protect civilians,” he emphasized.

He further emphasized that Egypt plays a central role in the region, given its favorable geography, rich history, large population, and abundant resources.

“We greatly appreciate Egypt as a stabilizing and secure force in the Eastern Mediterranean, the Middle East, and Africa,” the Ambassador concluded.
