Official delegation from Tatarstan visits Cairo to discuss economic cooperation

Minister of Trade and Industry Ahmed Samir met with Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Industry and Trade of Tatarstan, Oleg Kravchenko, and his accompanying delegation that includes representatives of government agencies and industrial companies, in Cairo on Monday. 

The meeting dealt with ways to strengthen economic and trade relations between the two sides, developments in the global economic situation, and a number of issues of common interest.

Samir highlighted the importance of encouraging the two governments to industrial companies in the two countries to achieve the concept of industrial integration in production processes, allowing these products to be exported to the markets of the Eurasian Economic Union countries, benefiting from the free trade agreement to be concluded between Egypt and the countries of the union.

Samir noted that the Egyptian state is interested in developing the auto industry by developing a new strategy based on providing great incentives for this industry.

He stressed the importance of studying the possibilities of joint manufacturing of cars, by supplying the main components from Tatarstan and completing the car industry, depending on the good capabilities of auto-feeding industries currently in Egypt.

Samir elaborated that there is interest from the state at the current stage in manufacturing a large number of products and raw materials (approximately 152 items) that are imported and are considered inputs for important industries. Therefore, they can be jointly manufactured, including car tires and vehicles, as well as petrochemicals, which Tatarstan is distinguished for in its production.

The Minister invited the delegation of Tatarstan to participate in the project currently being studied to establish an international logistical center for grains in the port of Damietta or one of the ports of the economic zone of the Suez Canal.

Kravchenko expressed the importance of this visit, which includes major companies operating in the fields of oil, gas, trucks, heavy vehicles, dairy products and medical equipment.

He stated that these companies seek to continue and strengthen cooperation with the Egyptian side and study investment opportunities in Egypt in the Russian industrial zone project at the Suez Canal axis.

Kravchenko revealed that a water project in Egypt is being studied to significantly increase the agricultural area in Egypt.
