45 villages in Menoufeya connected with fiber optic cables: Communications Minister

Minister of Communications and Information Technology Amr Talaat has said that 45 villages in Menoufeya have been connected with optical fiber cables, out of a total of 81 villages in the governorate. 

Moreover, 47 new mobile towers have been established, from a target 85 mobile towers. In addition to that, the efficiency of 28 mobile towers were improved to improve communications for residents of these areas. 

During his visit to Menoufeya, the Minister of Communications visited the Digital Egypt Creativity Center “Creativa”, which was established by the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology at Menoufeya University. This center provides technical training and technological skills development for university students and graduates, and youth from Menoufia Governorate. Through this center, students can be properly equipped for the local and global labor market in information technology. 

The Ministry of Communications and Information Technology had launched the Egypt Digital Creativity Centers project in order to increase the number of innovation centers from three to 30, ensuring that each governorate has at least one creativity center to enable young people to eventually find distinguished job opportunities.

Talaat indicated that Egypt’s digital innovation centers aim to stimulate creative thinking and support technological innovation and startups. He pointed out that the goal of establishing the Egypt Creativity Center at Menoufeya University is to create communication and networking between students, graduates, and university professors. He explained that the programs offered within Creativa are not limited to only graduates of communications and information technology majors, but also target young people from various disciplines and academic backgrounds.

Heba Saleh, Head of the Information Technology Institute (ITI), highlighted the institute’s activities within the Menoufeya Digital Egypt Creativity Center and the training programs it provides to the people of the governorate. These included workshops and specialized programs in several areas, most notably artificial intelligence and machine learning, the Internet of things, and embedded systems.
