Egypt’s Minister of Agriculture and Land Reclamation, Elsayed Elkosayer, met with Salis Devachi, the chairperson of a Russian company that produces agricultural seeds and fertilizers.

During the meeting, the minister emphasized the Egyptian state’s interest in creating a favourable investment environment.

He also noted the Russian company’s interest in expanding its presence in Egypt by registering its products in the Egyptian market to test their effectiveness and promote the company’s name.

Elkosayer said that the ministry is discussing cooperation with the Agricultural Research Center in the field of seed production.

He added that the Egyptian state is keen on boosting this sector to increase productivity and achieve food security for citizens from strategic crops.

Devachi expressed his company’s readiness to cooperate with the ministry in producing seeds, including sunflower seeds, provided that they are approved for use and evaluated by the Agricultural Research Center.

He also mentioned that his company has established a joint stock company in Egypt to work in the local market.

Moreover, Devachi confirmed his interest in collaborating with Egypt to produce sunflower seeds, corn, and soybeans.

He also stated that the Russian side wants to establish a factory for the production of fertilizers.

The meeting concluded with a recommendation to immediately activate the Egyptian-Russian partnership, establish a pesticide factory, and register seed varieties for oil crops that have a high percentage of oil.

The parties also agreed to cooperate with the Agricultural Research Center under the umbrella of the national program for the production of vegetable seeds.
