Al-Sisi, Malaysian PM discuss joint cooperation, issues of mutual interest

Egypt’s President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi received on Monday, a video call from Anwar Ibrahim, the Prime Minister of Malaysia. The virtual meeting aimed at discussing ways to support joint cooperation between the two friendly countries.

Ahmed Fahmy, the official spokesperson for the Presidency of the Republic, stated that the virtual meeting came in light of the historical ties and distinguished bilateral relations that unite the two parties. 

Both Al-Sisi and Ibrahim discussed cooperation efforts in the cultural, tourism and educational fields, and the strengthening of economic relations, trade exchange, and increasing joint investments in the sectors of energy, communications and information technology, in addition to the automobile industry, and other areas that contribute to maximizing the utilization of the comparative advantages of each country and achieving economic integration and comprehensive development.

Fahmy added that the video call also witnessed an exchange of visions on the most prominent regional and international issues of common interest and ways to achieve security and stability in the Middle East and at the international level.

The two sides also stressed the importance of continuing coordination and consultation in international forums, to deal with various issues, including combating terrorism and extremism at all levels.
