Executive Director of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprise Development Agency (MSMEDA), Nevine Gamea, has met with a high-ranking delegation comprising US Congress members from both the Democratic and Republican Parties during their visit to the fourth edition of the Torathna Exhibition for Handicrafts and Heritage 2022.
MSMEDA organized the exhibition under the auspices of President of Egypt Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi at the Egypt International Exhibitions Center from 9 to 15 October 2022. Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly inaugurated the exhibition.
Gamea voiced appreciation for such visit that reflects interest of the different international entities to acquaint themselves with economic progress Egypt records in numerous sectors including small business sector, with particular emphasis on Egyptian handicrafts due to their potential to generate thousands of sustainable and decent jobs for youth and accelerate growth rates. Gamea added the small handicrafts sector possesses promising capacities to create highly competitive products in foreign markets.
“MSMEDA supports the small business sector and delivers technical services that build youth capacities and enhance their entrepreneurial skills to cope with rapid variables markets nowadays witness,” MSMEDA Executive Director explained.
At the end of the visit, Gamea commended the confidence of the international community, donor agencies and financial institutions in the Egyptian economy. This confidence, she added, has been translated into international funds contributed by these agencies for activities that are currently implemented and into the success of these activities in creating tens of thousands of job opportunities for the Egyptian people.
Gamea emphasized the importance of this visit made by the US delegation to the Egyptian Handicrafts Exhibition being the biggest regional gathering of artists and artisans alike. She reiterated this visit gives momentum to entrepreneurs to upgrade their products and render them competitive in world markets.
The US delegation is currently visiting Egypt to familiarize with the main axes of the comprehensive development process Egypt is witnessing, especially, with regard to the micro and small business sector and fostering bilateral cooperation and strategic partnership between Egypt and the United States.
The delegation toured the different booths of the Exhibition and admired products that embody the unique Egyptian arts and culture.
