Egypt’s Health Minister discusses cooperation with Czech ambassador in Cairo

Egypt’s Minister of Health and Population Khaled Abdel Ghaffar received, on Saturday, Ivan Gokl, the Czech ambassador to Egypt, to discuss ways of cooperation between the two countries in the health sector.

The minister reviewed the results of his recent visits to Prague, capital of the Czech Republic, during his participation in the Health Forum (Czech Africa 2022), which was held from 17 to 19 May 2022, expressing the Egyptian state’s keenness to provide opportunities to finance projects in the health sector.

Hossam Abdel Ghaffar, the spokesperson for the Ministry of Health and Population, said that the minister directed the ministry’s officials to develop a specific strategy for cooperation in the field of investment and medical industries, to attract investors from Czech, and to develop a plan that includes controls and standards for operating production lines to manufacture medical devices, supplies and tools, instead of importing them.

He added that the minister discussed with the ambassador cooperation in the field of training doctors and nursing staff in all medical specialties, with the aim of raising their efficiency and improving the quality of health services provided to citizens. 

They also discussed exchanging experiences in the field of oncology medicine and surgery, and exchanging visits between specialists in this field and familiarizing themselves with the treatment protocols in both countries.

Abdel Ghaffar explained that the two sides discussed cooperation in the production and manufacture of medicines, in addition to cooperation in exchanging the technology of manufacturing serums and vaccines against the Coronavirus and other epidemic diseases. 

Cooperation also shall include the field of drug control, exchange of scientific research with the aim of refining the expertise of medical personnel in all disciplines in the two countries.
