Al-Sisi stresses pushing forward political process in Yemen

Egyptian President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi stressed the importance of moving forward the political process in Yemen with sincere intentions to reach a sustainable solution to the country’s crises.

This came during a meeting between Al-Sisi and head of the Presidential Leadership Council of Yemen Rashed Al-Alimi on Saturday in Cairo.

Al-Sisi congratulated Al-Alimi on assuming his position, wishing him success in facing the challenges in Yemen, and moving forward the political process to end the suffering of the brotherly Yemeni people.

The Egyptian president also stressed the strength of relations between the two countries, and Egypt’s support to the unity and sovereignty of Yemen, noting that the security and stability of Yemen are of paramount importance to Egyptian national security.

For his part, Al-Alimi expressed appreciation for Egypt’s firm and supportive stances for the security and stability of Yemen and the regional environment as a whole, pointing out Yemen’s aspiration to intensify joint cooperation between the two countries at various levels during the coming period.

He reviewed the developments in his country, the government’s efforts to restore peace and stability, and the challenges facing the Yemeni people as a result of the deteriorating humanitarian situation.

Al-Alimi also praised the care and good treatment received by the Yemeni community in Egypt, expressing his aspiration for Yemen to benefit from the Egyptian experience in the process of reconstruction, construction and development.

He explained that the Egyptian experience during the past years is unique and inspiring to the entire Arab world, both at the level of project completion rates in all fields, as well as Egypt’s political dealings with all the region’s crises in a wise and balanced manner, which is an extension of the authentic national policies and trends that Egypt adopts concerning the strategic issues of the Arab and Islamic nations.

The meeting witnessed a discussion of means of joint cooperation between the two countries in the context of enhancing security in the Red Sea, as well as exchanging visions on a number of issues related to bilateral relations and ways to provide support to the Yemeni side in order to enable it to overcome the current crisis.

The President affirmed Egypt’s readiness to enhance rehabilitation and the support provided to prepare Yemeni cadres in various fields, in addition to the Egyptian support for international efforts to overcome the humanitarian crisis in Yemen, as well as the development of its infrastructure.
