Shoukry in Germany to sign agreement for hosting COP27

Egypt’s Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry travelled on Tuesday to Bonn, Germany, to participate in the meeting of the two subsidiary bodies of the UN Framework Convention on climate change (UNFCCC).

Ahmed Hafez, the spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, said that on the sidelines of his participation in the meeting, Minister Shoukry is scheduled to sign an agreement that allows Egypt to host the 27th session of the Conference of the Parties (COP27), which will be held in Sharm El-Sheik in November.

The foreign minister also meets with a number of senior officials from various countries and parties concerned with international climate action, as well as representatives of various geographical groups and states parties to the framework convention, as well as representatives of civil society circles accredited to the convention.
